FAMILY;; His mother died when he was five. He never knew his father or any of his extended family and he is currently given financial support from the government until he graduates from Ioralta Academy.

HISTORY;;
Cassander was born into poverty to a single mother living in "Vermin Village" in Riasglach. The few children born in Riasglach lived to adulthood, and even fewer made it through emotionally unscathed. Cassander was one of the lucky ones, for his mother was there to protect him from the pedophiles and cannibals, or would-be cannibals, who fancied the idea of eating children above their usual dinner of rats and slime. She died, presumably of consumption, when Cassander was five. Hungry, he wandered to the shore and slipped into a barrel of olives that been unpacked by accident and while he was eating, his barrel was packed and the ship sailed out to sea. They found him, several hours later, happily enjoying his evening meal in the cellar. Of course, you couldn't send a toddler back to Swamp City, children didn't belong their in the first place, so they took him to Port Seang. He was placed in a wagon and taken to an orphanage in Gaothaidh.

During the next five years of his life, he was picked on by the other children for being awkward. He kept to himself, mostly, reading or drawing or making strange inventions. He would collect ordinary items that had been thrown out and piece them together, creating intricate, but useful eggbeaters. Out of chance, a couple who wanted to adopt a child interviewed him and the husband worked for the government. Although they did not adopt him, the husband knew genius when he saw it, and he alerted his colleagues to Cassander's existence.

Instantly, these grown-ups were making plans for his education at Ioralta Academy. First, they taught him how to speak properly, sound posh and use proper grammar. They taught him how to eat with proper table manners and to excuse himself when he had to blow his nose. Cassander thought the whole ideal strange and unnecessary, but hedid as he was told, because it wasn't like he had anything to lose.

Cassander ended up starting at Ioralta Academy a year early: when he was thirteen and it was then that his life changed forever. He was surrounded by books and adults who cared about him and shared his interests. He was involved in classes that stimulated his mind and taught him more than his reading could. He still missed and wondered about his mother, but he felt like he had finally found a home in Ioralta Academy.
