A desert land across the ocean to the west where the sand stretches on for miles and water is scarce. It takes two months to travel by ship between the edge of Zahera and the coast of Teumnach or the Horizon Seaport in Eacharnach. The desert is divided up into territories, each the home range of a nomadic tribe.OCCUPATION;;
Each tribe is ruled by a high ranking family, the male head is known as a Sheik (very rarely, a female known as a Sheikah will rule the tribe). The power and respect a Sheik has among the other nomadic tribes is determined by the size of the territory they command. Respect can also be earned by forming alliances with other tribes. Each territory has their own dialect of language. The population is mostly Human, but there are a few Immortal Fae among the population, and as a result the families of the Sheik know the Ancient Tongue. The 'common tongue' is not found in Zahera.
Zahera has a trade agreement with another desert land known as the Tanukhid Empire. The Tanukhid originally tried to conquer Zahera into their empire, but they gave up on the neighboring land as a 'waste of effort' due to the fact their armies could not locate the nomadic tribes. Instead, they settled for simply trading with them.
- Zahera - Princess of the Hisan Eazim (Great Horse) Tribe
- Speirling - Pirate. First Mate of the Sanaii
- Zahera - Royal
- Speirling - Outlaw
Wolf Form - Every full moon Tali transform into a gorgeous black wolf. Her wolf form is that of the Speirling Werewolf, which looks like a normal wolf that walks on all four legs, they are just larger in size. She possesses a plush, double layer of fur that helps keep her warm. | |
Werewolf Skill-Set - Ever since she was turned into werewolf Tali has found that she possesses the increased agility, sense of sight, sense of smell and sense of hearing that are common among others of her kind while in human form. However, Tali does not have the increased strength that pure-blood werewolves would have. |

Whisper – A white bellied sea eagle that was a gift to her from Beowulf. Whisper primarily lives on a perch in the ships cabin, but Tali takes the eagle out to fly quite often so that it may hunt for fish to eat. Whisper is also set loose during any fights that may occur so that the bird does not end up injured. |
She has two Sai daggers | |
A "persian" scimitar sword. |
PERSONALITY;;
- Fun loving - There is nothing that Talisa loves more than finishing the day off with loud songs with the crew of the ship, drinking games and even the odd arm wrestle. She also has a lot of fun sparring against her husband/captain, Beowulf, on the deck of the ship to keep their skills sharp. During the day it is merely a display of talent, but at night after the crew has retired to their bunks it becomes either a bonding session, or a weird kind of foreplay for the pair.
- Breaking Stereotypes - Talisa is frequently reminded that "it is bad luck to have a woman on the ship". And every day she reminds the crew in turn that the superstition is pointless. She is not bad luck, and she will forever prove it by being the best pirate she can possibly be. The stereotypes she sets out to break are the superstitious "women on board are bad luck", and that all pirates are scoundrels and scallywags. Talisa is technically classed as a Lawful Rogue. A rogue because she is a pirate, but lawful in the fact that she is not necessarily evil.
- Rebellious - Being a pirate means one thing: living outside of the law. Talisa loves breaking laws by attacking cargo ships and sailing away with the plundered cargo. She will never steal precious possessions of the individual, but things like alcohol, food and other merchandise is fair game.
- Oh, the moon! - Talisa is obsessed with the moon, she just can't stop looking at it. When she was younger she had always ignored it's glow and beauty, but since she the day she became a werewolf she cannot get enough of just looking at it.
- Never hurt the innocent - Beowulf has one important rule on his ship. To never harm the innocent. It is a rule that Talisa lives by, and will continue to do so until the end of her days. She will even defend the innocent against the crew of her own ship if she has to.
- Caring - Talisa is caring, despite her new found reputation as a pirate. She may be a pirate, but she isn't heartless. She cares enough to defend the innocent, but she also cares about her family (except her step-family). It sets her apart from other pirates.
FLAWS;;
- Intense Anger – Being a werewolf makes her easy to drive to anger, even to the point of violence. With this threat of anger Talisa runs a tight ship with the crew, but they become increasingly wary of her as time draws nearer to the full moon. PMS in normal women is nothing compared to the intensity of her anger that Talisa has during a full moon (wolf form or not).
- Sadistic towards rapists– If Talisa ever comes across a known rapist, she will take them as her prisoner – kidnapping them essentially. Talisa looses all sense of who she is while tortures them for hours on end until they are begging for death... then she will tell them that she will grant them death,provided that they apologise to her on behalf of all the women and girls that they had raped. Most of them do. Then she will kill them,making it slow and painful.... making them scream, just like the girls that they raped had screamed.
- Hates being called a "foreigner" – Talisa hates being addressed as a foreigner. Just because she is foreign doesn't mean she loves her home. The high seas are now her home, how can anyone be foreign if they live on the sea?
- Too blunt – It's one thing to be direct, it's another thing entirely to be TOO direct. With a rowdy crew of pirates you have to be forthright, but Talisa can be downright insensitive at times. Even with it comes to delivering bad news - Talisa isn't known for softening the blow.
- Shudders at the touch of men – There are very few men that can get away with touching Talisa without her shuddering. She is afraid of being handled by men that even the slightest brush can make her shudder violently. Her grandfather, father and husband are the only ones that can bypass this tendency due to the trust that she has with them.
SECRETS;;
- Raped – The fact that she was raped by her step-brother is a closely guarded secret that very few people know. It is also the reason why she was sent away by her father and grandfather to marry her husband (for her protection).
- Afraid of heights – The crew has often wondered why Talisa flat out refuses to climb the ropes to help with the sails. That's because Talisa felt very queasy the first time she climbed the mast. Her stomach turns, her vision becomes fuzzy and her knees begin to buckle. She is terrified of heights and will avoid climbing at all costs.
- Beowulf can read - No one else on the ship knows that the captain can read, and she is the only one that he read's to. So it is a secret that she shares with him, at his request.
- Can't swim - Yes, a pirate that doesn't know how to swim. Tali grew up in a desert, swimming wasn't exactly a thing that happened very often over there, so Tali just never had to opportunity to learn. So having a crew that wants to throw her overboard is a very real and present danger to a woman that cannot swim.

HISTORY;;
Lamia was born to Cassim Nassar and his wife Aaliyah. The pair had grown up together ever since they were small children, and Cassim had been smitten all his life. By the time they were in their late teens, Lamia's father had plucked up the courage to ask Aaliyah to marry him. To his surprise, and elation, she agreed to the match - and returned his affections tenfold. A white lioness was given to Cassim as Aaliyah's dowry.
Before long Aaliyah had given birth to their first child, a daughter. They named her Lamia.
Their homeland was the desert land of Zahera. There was no king, no queen, no royal family of the desert as the land itself was divided into territories. Each territory being governed by a Sheik - the leader of a nomadic tribe. The Sheik was the male head of the most powerful family amongst the tribe. Lamia's grandfather, Cadarn Nassar, had been the Sheik of the Hisan Eazim tribe during his prime years, and after he decided to retire, Cassim took on the role of Sheik.
Cadarn doted on his granddaughter, not even caring that for now he had been denied a grandson that would eventually take over as clan leader from their father. But Lamia was a sweet girl that even hard-hearted Cadarn could not help but fall for her charms.
The same day as Lamia's birth, the white lioness from Aaliyah's dowry had given birth to a litter of 4 lion cubs. Amongst the litter was a single male cub with bright blue eyes. Cassim decreed that the blue eyed male would be give to Lamia, as a protector. Lamia was barely two when her mother passed away from illness, taking her unborn baby brother with her. Cassim took her death the hardest but took over caring for his daughter with ease.
Aside from Aaliyah, Cassim also had two other women in the harem, Nefitiri and Cleopatra. These women were not his wives, but concubines (a custom of his tribe)... but they were a god send to the Sheik. Nefitiri was the elder of the two, with rich black hair and smokey brown eyes. Cleopatra had dark brown hair, honey-brown eyes, and a light tan complexion. Both concubines were beautiful, but it was Nefitiri that had caught Cassim's eye first. There was something about those smokey brown eyes.
Both women took care of Lamia when Cassim was unable due to being busy or too depressed. The two women became second mothers to Lamia and the child flourished in their care. Cassim came to see his daughter every day, regardless of how his emotions were plaguing him and spent more time with his Harem women as a result. He grew quite close to Nefitiri, but was quite friendly with Cleopatra as well. His closeness with Nefitiri developed into affection... an affection that scared him. Could it be possible for him to love again after loosing his dearest Aaliyah? He adored Nefitiri though, and so Cassim allowed himself the freedom to follow these new feelings.
By the time Lamia was four, she was the older sister to a new child. Another daughter born to Cassim and Nefitiri. The new child was named Kamaria. Two years later, Cassim and Nefitiri had another daughter together, and they named this one Akela. Lamia was overwhelmed by happiness at having new siblings that she could play with, and she often voiced to her father that she wished Nefitiri was her mother by marriage... rather than just a "Harem Mother" as Lamia had come to call Nefitiri and Cleopatra.
Around this time, Lamia's grandfather had began to ask her father if he planned on marrying once again. Cadarn wanted a grandson that would eventually become clan leader when Cassim retired. Cassim saw no need to remarry now that he had discovered his love for Nefitiri. And there was always the chance that he could have a son with her... both daughters he had sired with the concubine carried the Nassar family name. But Cassim did not want to take away any birthright that Lamia had claim to... being his first born. Eventually the two men agreed to a compromise - if Lamia was unable to take on the role of Sheikha herself, then her own first born would become Cassim's heir and eventual successor. And so, Lamia was officially named Princess of the Hisan Eazim Tribe.
A year later, other high ranking families in the Hisan Eazim tribe were getting vocal about Cassim having failed to take another wife. They wanted to see him married and atleast attempt to father a son to become Cassim's heir. They were accepting of the 'Plan B' of Lamia's future, but that left the present uncertain in their minds. If only to appease the other families, Cassim announced that he did plan to remarry. Privately, Cassim admitted to his father that he wished to marry Nefitiri - making her his wife, and no longer his concubine. Cadarn was happy for him, as he had found love once again... but worried. Worried about the other families accepting the match.
As it turned, the whole thing was out of their hands. The other families had already picked a bride for Cassim. Daniyah Kassis, born to the Almasi family. Daniyah was recently widowed, with a young son of her own, and her family was well regarded amongst the tribe. Cassim and Cadarn knew that they had no choice in the matter now.... Cassim reluctantly agreed to the match. Daniyah's son, Hashim, was the tribes 'Plan C'. The years that were to follow... were to be absolute hell for Cassim and Lamia.
Life was very uneasy around the new family members. Within the first few weeks, Daniyah was demanding that Cassim send away his concubines permanently - she wanted no competition. Usually that is a reasonable thing for a Sheik's wife to 'ask for', but Daniyah stepped over the line by adding in that Kamaria and Akela be sent away as well. Cassim blatantly refused. Aside from his love for Nefitiri, sending away his daughters was a non-option for him. No, the concubines were there to stay.
Daniyah tried to coax Cassim into her bed, so that they could produce the heir that the tribe was so desperately wanting. But the Sheik refused. He had married her to appease their demands of marriage, not so that he could "bed her". No, any son of his would come from the woman that he loved... no one else. Unfortunately the fates had other ideas.
During the first year of his marriage to Daniyah, Cassim was still visiting Nefitiri and Cleopatra often... and all his daughters. Lamia had taken to living with her sisters and 'Harnem Mothers', rather than in the same tent as her father, step-mother and step-brother. There was something about Hashim that terrified her. Cassim and Nefitiri had been trying for another child... but it simply was no happening. Unknowing to them, Daniyah had taken matters into her own hands and effectively "poisoned" Nefitiri just enough to make her sterile. There was nothing that the healers could do to reverse the problem. It was at that point that Cleopatra surprised everyone... she offered herself to Cassim to sire a child with, a child that Nefitiri could raise as her own. Cleopatra was still so young... barely eighteen. Cassim was uncertain but Cleopatra surprised him further, by revealing that Nefitiri was her sister and she wanted to do this for her sister.
As it turned out, Nefitiri had been given to Cassim by her family as they were poor and having the girl as the concubine of the highest ranking family ensured their daughters survival. Cleopatra had been given to Cassim along with her sister for the very same reasons... but she had been ten years old at the time. The family knew that Cassim would not lay with Cleopatra until she was old enough, as he was a decent man. Honored beyond belief, Cassim asked Cleopatra just once more if she was certain of this plan of hers. There was no question, Cleopatra wanted her sister to be happy. Nine months later, Nefitiri and Cassim had another daughter to raise, born from Cleopatra. They named this daughter Sanya.
Daniyah was furious that Cassim had yet another child from his concubines... and still refused to lay with his wedded wife. The woman vowed to herself that if Cassim didn't want to lay with her, then he never would. Her own son, born from her previous marriage, could become his heir! She would have no other children.
After that point, Cassim had no chance at disciplining Hashim at all for being the little brat that he was. All because Daniyah would claim loudly that he had no place to do so, and that Hashim had done nothing wrong. Daniyah would also frequently hit Lamia and abuse her verbally – her favored insult was that Lamia was a “worthless child that should have been killed at birth”.
What Lamia, Cassim and Cadarn (and even Nefitiri) never learned was that Daniyah had 'loved' Cassim Nassar for many years. It was not love exactly, but rather a desire of his power. A soothsayer had told her when she was younger that she would be a mother to a future clan leader... however, Daniyah had taken this to mean 'the mother', but when Cassim married Aaliyah, her chances had been dashed. She was mildly relieved that their first born had been a daughter, rather than a son... so when Daniyah heard that Aaliyah was pregnant again, and with a son, she arranged for Aaliyah to be poisoned. It was the same poison that she had used to make Nefitiri sterile. But a higher dosage had been used on Aaliyah. The poison was mistaken as a mysterious illness, killing Aaliyah within days, and the unborn child.
So when the tribe decided that Cassim needed to remarry, and a women of their choosing, Daniyah finally got her desire. But Cassim would have no child with her. Daniyah's new plan was to set up Hashim as the clan leader, persuading the boy into wanting that desire as well.... what they both forgot however, was that Lamia was the Cassim's first born, meaning that in the roles of male leaders, only a son of hers could ascend to the title as her father's heir. Hashim would never be clan leader... so the soothsayer had been right, Daniyah was 'a mother', a step-mother.... she was never going to be 'the mother'.
Two years after the birth of Sanya, Cleopatra once again gifted a child to Cassim and Nefitri to raise as their own. It was once again Cleopatra who had approached Cassim and asked if he would wish for another child... and he did. Ofcourse he would love to sire a son, but he was grateful for any children. Nefitiri may be the 'official' mother of the harem children, but Cassim was certain to ensure that any child born from Cleopatra for her sister, regarded the younger woman as their mother as well. The latest child that Cleopatra had gifted her sister was yet another daughter: Serana. Cadarn was mystified at how his son had managed to produce so many daughters. It seemed that the son that Aaliyah had been carrying at the time of her death was to be Cassim's only son. What a terrible shame!
Now that it seemed that Cassim would never have another son, Daniyah ramped up her insistence that Hashim be named as his heir. Both Cassim and Cadarn refused her wishes without hesitation. It might be convenient to name Hashim as the next Sheik, but they wanted a blood-relative as the heir. As a result of the continued rejection over her insistence for Hashim's ascension Daniyah's abuse towards Lamia worsened, and by the time she was sixteen Hashim began to torment her as well, following his mothers example by calling her names and hurting her physically. Days after she turned eighteen Hashim ramped up his torment of Lamia by raping her - no one would ever learn why Hashim had decided to rape her, not even Daniyah.
Cassim was furious with both Daniyah and Hashim when his daughter came running to him in the Harem tent, her clothes in tatters, sobbing loudly as she fled from her step-brother. When Lamia told him what happened, Cassim saw red for the first time in his life. He stormed out of the Harem tend, and up to his wife and step-son and declared that if either of them laid a hand on Lamia again they would both be cast out of the tribe and exiled into the desert. Hashim would be the first to go if he dared step out of line again. Needless to say, neither of them touched Lamia again, but that didn't stop them from abusing her verbally, out of Cassim's hearing.
Months later it became apparent that the moment that Hashim had raped Lamia, he had created a child within her, and her belly began to swell. What Hashim kept secret was that he now felt as if he 'owned' Lamia, because he had not only taken her purity, but had planted his seed within her.... she was his! Nine months after the rape Lamia gave birth to a little girl, however the child was stillborn. But nonetheless, Lamia named her Sanaii, if only to provide a softer side to the memory. Being the last remaining link to the woman that he had loved so dearly, Cassim held his daughter as she wept over the fact that her daughter was stillborn, sired by the cretin that was his new wife's son. Even Cassim and Cadarn mourned for the little girl, and they both feared for the future safety of Lamia.
Soon they began discussing how they would be able to keep their princess safe from Hashim. Nefitiri suggested that Hashim be exiled... but unfortunately the boy hadn't laid a hand on Lamia since that day. With heavy hearts, the two men agreed that the only way to keep Lamia safe (and any future son she may yet bare) was to send her elsewhere - away from the Hisan Eazim tribe. They ran through the options of all their allied tribes... but even sending her to one of the other tribes for safe keeping didn't seem to be enough safety in their well justified paranoia.
In the end Cadarn came up with a solution and sent word to an old friend of his in Muireach – a wily old pirate called Wulfric Morgul. Wulfric came to see them in their desert home, and after a feast, the three men discussed what was to be done to ensure Lamia's safety. It was agreed that Wulfric's son, Wulf - whom called himself Beowulf - would be married to Lamia and she would remain on Beowulf's ship with him until such time as she bore the required sons - one to become Heir Apparent of the Hisan Eazim tribe, and one to carry on the Morgul name in Muireach. The high sea's would become the safest place for the girl – far away from the reaches of Hashim.
After tearful embraces, Lamia bade farewell to her father, grandfather, all her sisters, Nefitiri and Cleopatra. She made her father promise that he would divorce Daniyah and marry Nefitiri at long last. Cassim promised with all his heart. Her family watched as Wulfric rode away on his borrowed camel with Lamia riding on the saddle before him. The white lion, Tau, was to travel with them. The pair rode in almost silence - the young girl crying softly, and Wulfric humming an old sea shanty that he knew. As promised Wulfric kept Lamia safe until the coast, and taking her on his ship across sea to her new home. It would take two months on the sea to reach Muireach.
During the voyage Wulfric finally explained another piece of the elaborate puzzle the men had crafted to hide Lamia from her treacherous step-brother. Speaking in her native tongue Wulfric told the girl that she would need a new first name so that Hashim would not be able to find her by name alone, should he ever come to Speirling. It was a sound plan, but Lamia did not know what she should be called instead. Wulfric suggested 'Tali ', and the girl agreed. But rather than loose who she was - 'Lamia' was kept as a second name. She became Tali Lamia Aaliyah Nassar.
To pass the time, Wulfric taught Tali his native tongue - the common tongue. She would need to know the language if she were to survive the harshness of Muireach and its waters. He also taught her what any sailor worth their salt would need to know about Muireach. The ports of Seang and Lethunsa were the best places to barter and trade, and the places that a pirate should always fly false colours (aka flag). He also taught her the various bits of language jargon employed on ships: port (left) and starboard (right).
Two months later, Wulfric and Tali reached the Horizon Seaport in Eacharnach for a brief stopover before continuing on to Port Seang in Muireach, where they met up with his son Beowulf. Beowulfwas older than Tali, but he had a undeniable charm and a good heart – which was rare for a plundering sea-dog. Initially Beowulf was against the idea of marriage, being quite the charmer amongst the ladies in the port, but as agreed, Beowulf was wed to Tali within days and he smuggled her aboard his ship – if only as a favour to her family and his father. Beowulf took her to his cabin and told her not to come out until they were out on the high seas, and until he could calm down his crew – since they were a superstitious bunch that believed women on ships was bad luck (needless to say Beowulf didn't agree with that sentiment). Once Beowulf had calmed the spirits of his crew Tali had free roam of the ship, and within time life on the high seas came to suit her, it provided a freedom from her past and society. At first the crew members were wary of the white lion that accompanied her.
A month into their marriage Beowulf joined her in his cabin, curious about why her family had sought help from his father and himself. He asked her gently about it, noting the look of sadness that crossed her at the question. At first Tali refused to answer until he asked if a man had harmed her – unable to hide, Tali broke down into tears, and Beowulf instantly knew he'd hit a nerve with his question. A few more questions revealed the story of her step-brother raping her and the fact that her daughter had been stillborn. In an attempt to calm his young wife down Beowulf brought out a book out of a chest and distracted her with the tales it contained – his plan worked flawlessly. The pair curled up on his bunk together as he read to her, and fell asleep in each others arms. The next morning Beowulf swore to her that he would never harm her, nor would he let anyone harm her again.
Six months later Beowulf had come to care for his wife, and Tali cared for him in return, though they couldn't call it love just yet, more that he was her best friend – and she proved herself useful on the ship – at first as a cook, then Beowulf made her his first mate when her fighting skills improved to a level where she could hold her own against him, since he was the finest swordsman on his ship. But Tali's fighting style involved two trident like daggers known as Sai's, and body movements from Martial Arts. Once she was in short range of you, it was hard to battle against her.
The promotion caused unrest to begin with, but Tali had come into her own woman and a hard look from her usually silenced them. Beowulf and Tali were often found sparring on the deck of the ship at night to keep up their skills, but once they were alone Beowulf would still read his books to her. Tali was the only one that knew he could read. It was by this stage that they came to a stage where they trusted each other completely, and he confessed to her that his family weren't human: they were in fact seafaring werewolves. To her credit, Tali was not surprised. She had always wondered why they had stopped at port once a month and Beowulf had insisted that she stayed on the ship, leaving by himself – this simply explained everything.
A year into their marriage, the night before the next full moon Beowulf's ship pull into port and Tali was called to accompany her husband ashore. She was led out of town into the Bluffs of Sona before Beowulf explained more about his particular branch of the Morgul family – and the requirement that anyone that married into that branch had to be turned in order to ensure that the werewolf blood continued to the next generation. It was part of the reason why he had not tried to consummate their marriage without her consent. Beowulf was a decent man, despite his scallywag reputation. He didn't want to force her into the turn, hence why he had taken her away from the ship so that her decision was not influenced by anyone other than herself. True to his word about never harming her Beowulf simply offered the turn – if she declined he would take her back to the ship and then leave again so that he didn't hurt her. But as he mentioned that she would be stronger... strong enough to ensure that no one ever hurt her again Tali's eyes glazed over with an intense hate for her step-brother, pulling her hair to the side and offering her neck – asking for the change.
Tali didn't remember much from the change, just that being bitten before allowing her husband into bed with her... without clothing. The next night they roamed the bluffs as wolves together, but Tali didn't remember ever being a wolf... for she was a turned wolf, not a born wolf. But she felt the same attraction to the moon every night that she had the night of the full moon before she had turned into her werewolf form for the first time. When they returned to the ship Beowulf presented her with a white bellied sea eagle that he had sent one of the crew to acquire while they were gone. Tali adored her new eagle, which she named Whisper. Though, Beowulf asked if she may have wanted a cat instead and she declined, saying that two cats would fight for territory – she explained what she meant after his look of confusion, since she owned a lion already, the pair would likely fight instead. An eagle was a better choice. Even the lion, Tau, virtually ignored the bird.
Beowulf had come to love Tali, and the eagle was a token of his affections for her. Tali loved him return, and she had fallen simply because he had been kind with her, keeping his promise of never harming her... and patient with her whenever she had flinched from his touch due to her fear of men. Tali still avoided the crew of the ship touching her, but Beowulf was able to put his hands on her without any ill effect.
Over time Tali became a feared pirate in her own right – she became known as the Desert Wolf because of being a werewolf and from Zahera. If anyone spoke ill of her captain, she would be the first line of attack (or defense). And she would be amongst the first to board ships that they plundered, they never plundered villages on the mainland. They only every attacked those at sea – and then they would sail away and hide. After a successful day plundering they would break open a barrel of mead and sing various rowdy songs with the crew. Tali kept an appearance with the crew that she wasn't just the captains wife, but their first mate... becoming friends with some of the crew (her closest comrades being a fellow foreigner, Darakai, and the ship's cook, Cookie) and joining in on the loud songs (though some of the crew made it difficult because they simply wanted to kill her and throw her overboard. Captain's wife or not, they did not like taking orders from a woman).
Life was happy enough on the high seas, though Tali misses her father and grandfather immensely. She is has recently given birth to triplets sired by Beowulf - two sons and a daughter. They have named their children: Mingan, Wolfgang, and Wilow. As Tali's first born son, Mingan has inherited her maiden name of Nassar and future as leader of the Hisan Eazim tribe in Zahera. But he will not be sent to the desert to learn his future role until he is old enough, and there is no possible threat to his life. Both Wolfgang and Willow were given Beowulf's family name.
Tali now fights to protect her small family with all of her strength, so that she may continue to care for them.
