Rouge was probably quite surprised when the giant had easily given up Dedrallow. Rouge wasn’t the brightest and therefore happily took Dedrallow into her clutches, placing him down on the ground before shifting back into a dog. Rogue was very happy to get her owner back; after all he was her best friend. She licked his face as he patted her head lovingly. Dedrallow turned and looked back at the giant. It seemed like it wasn’t looking for a fight, which was a good thing, if it was going to fight for its food then Dedrallow wasn’t sure if Rouge could survive a one on one with a real giant. He had to think of something quick, because he had to save the young banshee – which wasn’t in Dedrallow’s character at all – most of the time it was all about number one…but things were different now.
“Rouge, get out of here….” Dedrallow told her, but Rouge refused to move. This was not time to be stubborn. “ROUGE! Get out of here NOW!” This was the first time that Dedrallow had raised his voice at her. Rouge whimpered as she quickly ran off to hide beneath the tree branches that once stood so tall. Dedrallow turned and watched in horror as the giant put the boy in her mouth. He had to think quickly – and he knew whatever he did there was a good chance that the giant would not be so friendly about. He concentrated hard as he grew larger – his clothes ripped from his body as he rose higher into the sky. His body slowly getting longer as two giant wings broke free from his back, his arms and legs stretched out, nails forming into long claws, his nose and mouth prolonging into a long maw with razor sharp teeth. He shifted into a large dragon.
Dedrallow roared as he charged forward toward the giant. Trying to do something in order for the giant to open its mouth – he could only hope that the banshee was somehow still clinging on. He opened his mouth and breathed fire onto the ground, right where the giant's feet were, the ground quickly burst into flames as it flickered in the air.

It was none of her business what the other giant did with her food, sometimes she liked to play with it and watch it before she ate it; it was entertaining, but before she knew what was happening, the other giant had vanished and in its place where was a flying creature and before she could react further to this, there was the orange stuff that burned on the ground. She yelped loudly and jumped back. Back in her cage, the captors would put the orange stuff that burned on sticks and put it on her skin to make her do what they wanted, which usually involved lifting things. She didn't understand; she would have done that anyway, without the orange stuff that burned on sticks.
The smoke from the orange stuff that burned filed her nostrils and she coughed, and spat, backing up until she was able to clear her head of the smoke. Once she could see straight, she turned and lumbered away.

One moment, Cassander was clinging onto the giant's tongue for dear life and the next, he was being catapulted across the air. He desperately tried to regain control of his body: he flapped his wings frantically and screeched, well, like a banshee, but it was no use. It all happened for fast. One minute he was airborne, flying faster than he ever had in his life and the next, he smacked head-first into a tree and fell through a series of branches until he landed, with a final thud, on the ground. His vision had gone black on the first impact.
It was quiet, except for the sounds of the fire burning, and it would no doubt turn into a forest fire unless someone saw fit to do something about it. Then there was the sound of a cat meowing and the disgruntled feline from earlier picked his way through the wreckage to tickle Cassander's slimy, bloodied and bruised face with his whiskers.

Dedrallow watched helplessly as the giant had spit out the banshee causing him to fall to the ground. The fire was hungry and quickly began to lick its way through the valley. He knew that something had to be done about it, but that wasn’t his concern at the moment. He shifted back into a human, but he was completely naked because he had shifted into a creature that was larger than his clothes and he didn’t bother to take them off at the time, however he was used to this and quickly managed to throw something together to wrap around his waist. He looked at Rouge to make sure she was alright before rushing to the banshee’s side.
“Are you alright?” He asked in a true concerning voice. A lot sure has happened in this small amount of time, and Dedrallow had to concern for the banshee. “That was a long fall…” Dedrallow commented even though they both knew. He watched as the cat jumped up and he sighed. He looked around as he watched the fire blaze furiously. It was his own fault that the fire started, so it was his duty to do something, but he wasn’t exactly sure. How was he going to stop the fire from burning everything that surrounded it? He turned back toward the banshee, awaiting for his answer.

Cassander groaned and wrinkled his nose as something tickled it. Something tickled his face again, along with a low purring sound, and Cassander tried to bat it away, but he could barely move his limbs. They were heavy and weighed down by something sticky and wet and every muscle in his body hurt so badly that it felt like someone had lit them on fire. He let out a gasp and with great effort, forced his eyelids to open.
He was staring back into the face of the cat he had saved earlier, the same cat who had so valiantly come to his aid and who was now pawing at him, despite the giant's slime he was covered in. The banshee suddenly felt a rush of affection for the creature and wanted nothing better than to take him home, feed him fish scraps from the kitchen and cuddle him along with his black cat, Circe. In spite of the pain, he reached forward and scratched the cat under the skin. Purring for a moment, the cat's face scrunched up as he hissed, looking up and a second later, Dedrallow appeared and for once, Cassander wasn't unhappy to see him.
"I'm...ow..." Cassander managed, confirming that he was able to wiggle each set of fingers and toes. "I'm going to need some help...standing up."
He hated doing it, asking the creep for help, but as lovely as his new pet was, the cat couldn't help him to his feet.

“That cat seems to really like you now,” Dedrallow said in an almost teasing voice as he watched the cat. He took a deep breath of relief when he realized that the giant was going to come back, for now they were safe. However he wondered where the giant would go next? They were hungry beast, and often just followed on the instinct to eat. He didn’t really like to hurt the beast, but it was the only thing he could think to do, and he now realized that might have been the wrong thing to do. Even when he tried to do something helpful, he just messed it up. He turned back around and looked at Cassander and reached out his hand, “come on I’ll help you up,” he said in a calm tone.
Dedrallow than turned and looked at the fire. This was his fault. “I’m sorry…” He said to Casssander. “I’m not sure how to stop the fire from spreading. I wasn’t thinking clearly….” He spoke like a little child that was just scolded by their parent. Dedrallow tried think of a way, but he couldn’t. There was a river right next to them, but how could they possibly carry the water from that to stop the fire from spreading? Every second that past it was getting wilder, Dedrallow could feel the flames on his face as he turned and looked back to Cassander, giving him a defeated look. What could they do? Could they do anything? Were they really this helpless? No…there just had to be a way.

Cassander raised his head with the sounds of the goo squelching around his ears, but he managed to see the spreading fire in all of its glory. He groaned. How could he help out it out when he couldn't even stand up. He couldn't just let the fire burn the school, burn everything he loved and everything he stood for?
"Help me up. Now!" He ordered, struggling, his wings rustling as he struggled, painfully, still not strong enough to stand up by his own willpower between his injuries and the slime.
"I don't know, why don't you transform into a tidal wave or a tsunami? Isn't that what you people usually do in these situations?!" He barked, losing his temper. He would have thrown his hands up in the air in exasperation, had he had control of them. "And was that really the only way to get rid of the giant? Really? You couldn't transform into another giant and perform the Heimlick maneuver on it? You couldn't just transofm into a, I don't know, a bigger giant and scare it off? Honestly, man, don't you ever think--" But he cut himself off, his face freezing in an expression of shocked genius. That was it! Why hadn't he thought of it before?
"Stand me up!" He ordered. "Don't argue--just do it now!"

Dedrallow rolled his eyes at the banshee before he grabbed his hands and helped him up to his feet. Was he really that crippled? But, he had almost forgotten that he was young and ignorant of the world. He turned and looked at him. Dedrallow did have to admit though, he was smart. Why didn’t he think of that? A title wave or whatever would be perfect to quench the hungry fire. Dedrallow really didn’t shift into other things, unless he absolutely had too. So sometimes it easy for that part of his abilities to slip from his mind. He turned and looked at the banshee as he ranted on about him turning into a dragon. “I didn’t really have time to think, ya’know. If I waited any later you would have been dead. So..um…YOUR WELCOME…for rescuing you.” Dedrallow said in an irritated tone. Was anyone ever grateful anymore?
He turned and looked at the fire; he had to do something, quick. He took off his clothes (well whatever he had left from transforming into a dragon. “I got this,” he said as he ran over to the river and jumped in. A few seconds later a huge wave rose up out of nowhere from the river, high above the sky, before crashing onto the ground. It swallowed the fire hole, smothering everything it’s it past. Its hit was perfect and its direction was precise, so much in fact that the water didn’t even come close to the banshee, Rouge and the stray cat. The water pulled back into the river, as if had never been there before. The destruction was obvious, but it could have been worse (or better if Dedrallow had did what the boy had suggested rather than a dragon) Dedrallow appeared from the waters and Rouge ran over with his clothes. He quickly put them on.
“At least that’s done with,” he said.

Cassander groaned in pain, despite biting his lower lip in an effort to prevent any sound from escaping. Although he could wiggle all of his toes, his right leg was burning in pain. He looked down to affirm that it was not on fire too, only to discover that a small tree branch was sticking into the flesh. He gulped, feeling not only the white-hot pain, but a sickness stirring in his stomach from seeing his own flesh gruesomely disfigured. But he couldn't focus on his injuries right now. What was important, was saving the dragon-changeling, he-didn't-even-know fire from burning everything he loved to the ground.
The banshee dug down into the pit of his stomach, down straight into the depths of his toes and through the top of his head. He focused all of his energy, every nerve-ending, every fiber of magical tissue and flesh he possessed on this spell. He had read about spells like this and about much bigger spells than this one in books, but he had never performed a spell of this magnitude in reality. He wouldn't normally attempt something this without proper adult supervision (he didn't think that Dedrallow really counted as a 'responsible adult'), but today presented special circumstances.
He felt the pressure pressing up from his toes, through his legs and his torso, the power rushing through him and he opened his mouth in a scream as he released the waters. The lake rose up, the waterfall spilled over the rocks at twice it's normal rate. Thunder rolled across the sky, accompanied by a flash of lightning and rain poured from the heavens. Cassander felt the water alight on his skin and the cry died in his throat as he keeled over, his eyelids fluttering. Barely conscious and unaware of Dedrallow's help, he dragged himself into a slumping position against a tree, fighting to prop himself up on his elbows, completely drained.
"Yes," He rasped, "It's done."

“What we’re you thinking?” Dedrallow ran over to the banshee. What was he thinking? That was some serious magic and by the looks of it, he wasn’t trained enough to do that yet. Dedrallow although not a magical bean, he still knew about magic, and it could be dangerous. He sighed as he bent down next to him and looked around; at least they didn’t have to worry about the fire resparking or anything like that. He felt Rouge nudge close to him. A lot has happened in their short meeting. He learned Dedrallow’s secret and then a giant came and tried to eat them and now this. Dedrallow couldn’t really say it was a boring day, now could he? He was a little worried though, was he going to be okay? He leaned over and looked at him. “That was dangerous, you know. I had it covered; you didn’t need to do that…” Dedrallow told him.
“I’m sorry,” Dedrallow said softly, “this is my fault…” he felt bad. If he had changed into something else than a dragon, then they could have avoided this. Dedrallow looked at the boy closely. He then sighed and got up and brushed himself up. Perhaps it was best that he just left. It seemed like a lot of things could have been avoided if he hadn’t been around. He didn’t want to cause this boy anymore trouble. But, he couldn’t leave him like this could he? Ugh. He really didn’t know what to do. Dedrallow wasn’t good with social interactions – even more so when someone else was hurt. He shifted his weight as he looked at him.
“Umm…is there anything I can do for you?” He asked him. “or would it be best if I just leave?”

"Necessary." Cassander managed to rasp. "Couldn't let it all burn."
He surveyed his work with something close to pleasure. Well, he know knew that he could conjure the natural elements without completely killing himself. Good. Next time, he would prefer not to be nearly eaten by a giant, not falling from a tree and hitting all the branches on the way down and not being covered in slime, although the water had washed away the worst of the slime and know, he was only covered in a thin layer.
"The infirmary at the school." He said, reaching blindly for the changeling's hand. He grasped it and immediately gave him a weird look, even though he didn't let go. "And change back you're seriously starting to freak me out."He demanded. "Please..."
Maybe it was being in a giant's mouth, maybe it was nearly falling to his death or performing a spell that had left him completely exhausted and nearly killed him, but Cassander's patience had worn short and he was less frightened of Dedrallow, even if only for now. Right now, he just wanted to lie down and take a nice, long nap.

“Fine alright, but honestly does that really matter right now?” Dedrallow sighed as he changed back, thankfully that the two of them were the same size, so he didn’t have to worry about his makesake clothing tore apart leaving him with nothing to wear at all. He now had to figure out how to get the banshee to the school. He heard of it before, but he hadn’t been there before, and the idea wasn’t exactly his cup of tea – but he at least owed the banshee that much in helping him out. He whistled to Rouge, who knew exactly what he was thinking, she quickly shifted into a black mare. At least that took care of that part anyway.
“Alright, let’s not dally on,” He said as he picked up the banshee, who was surprising lighter then he thought, and put him on Rouge’s back. He hoped they could get there quickly and without any more trouble. He didn’t seem like he was in the best shape and Dedrallow hoped that he didn’t pass out or anything. Mostly because Dedrallow had NO idea where the infirmary was. “Just hang on there, we will be there soon…..umm…” Dedrallow paused and realized that he didn’t even know his name. He supposed it had slipped their minds after their arguments (Mostly his temperament) and then the giant’s sudden presence.
“What was your name?” Dedrallow asked him…also thinking if he kept the banshee talking, he wouldn’t pass out and he could get him help.

Under normal circumstances, Cassander would have objected to being lifted up by strange changeling men who were creepy creepers who creeped onto their even creepier changeling animal friends who turned into horses, but right now, he didn’t have much of a choice, and he was so drained that he just didn’t care anymore. He allowed Dedrallow, who had mercifully changed back (because, as much as he allegedly didn’t care about anything in his current state, it would have been truly bizarre to have himself lift…himself up, and, well, he had to draw the line somewhere). Just as mercifully, Dedrallow didn’t appear to ride double and climb up behind him, although Cassander didn’t see how he could; his now-slimy wings would have gotten in the way of everything.
Under normal circumstances, Cassander wouldn’t have given creepy changeling men with even creepier names his name, but as previously discussed, these weren’t normal circumstances, or circumstances in which Cassander was induced to care. “Cassander.” He supplied, without much ceremony. ”Your name is creepy.” He added, his filter long-gown. ”Sounds like some Satanic ritual involving the blood of virgins. By the way, it’s faster to go that way.” He pointed at a rough pathway through the trees leading up to the castle in the distance.
There was a rustling in the trees and the orange cat appeared. Through his exhaustion and slime, the banshee boy grinned, genuinely, and gestured to the cat with a tired, floppy arm. “Give him to me, please?” He requested of Dedrallow.

Dedrallow gave this Cassander boy-banshee a weird look when he mentioned that his name was creepy. He never got that reaction from it before. Yes, it was unusual and very little have ever heard of that name before, but most were not intrigued by it, not saying that it sounded like a virgin sacrifice ritual or whatever. Dedrallow wasn’t quite sure how to reply to that one. “Well, it’s none of those things. You really need to stop reading and get out more. It’s a name I’ve only had for the past 20 to 30 years; I’ve had many names before that, ya’know. Someone I used to know was named Dedrallow.” He told him with a shrug of his shoulders. He had many names since he was born; none of them were his true identity. He wasn’t even sure what that was.
“Alright, you better stay awake, because I don’t know exactly where to go,” Dedrallow said as he motioned to Rouge to go where Cassander pointed. He watched as Cassander also asked to bring along the cat. He sighed; he really didn’t think the need too, after all weren’t they in a hurry? Who knows if he had any internal damage going on or if he had a concussion or whatever. But, Dedrallow really didn’t feel like arguing with the banshee over something like bringing along a cat or not. He nodded his head and bent down, picked up the cat, and handed it to Cassander.
“Now, let’s hurry,” Dedrallow said as he began to walk toward the school, hoping that it didn’t take too long to get there.

Cassander opened his mouth to argue about how reading was a perfectly acceptable pastime and how he had no desire to send time in smelly pubs with smelly people and besides, he had class in the morning. Did Dedrallow mean adventures? But everyone knew that adventures were nasty things that made you late for dinner. He wanted no part of that. His adventures in books were epic enough for him, thank you very much.
“What? You mean adventures? Adventures are nasty things that make you late for dinner, everyone knows that. Ain’t nobody got time for that.”
Perhaps he was just a little (or a lot) delirious from his injuries and the excitement of today’s activities. Giants and changelings and cats were all the adventure he had craved and more. Cradling his new pet against his sticky face, Cassander reluctantly raised a hand long enough to in the general directly down a trail and to the castle.
“It’s down this way. I’ll get us through the gate.”
